who we are

LAIKA JR are a duo from Swindon making the kind of racket that sounds better loud and in a small room. We can play subtle too. If we have to.

Named after the Soviet space dog (and after discovering there were already about eight other bands called Laika, in one spelling or another). Big tones. Short attention spans. Influences include whatever was on in 1993, plus or minus ten years. Or so.

We won't play Wonderwall, Dakota or Mr Brightside. We may play proximate songs -- but not what everyone else is doing. When we can be bothered, we work hard to cover the buried treasure from our Gen-X heritage and do it justice with just one guitar and one voice.

We're also adding our own originals to the catalogue. That takes more effort though, and we're really picky. Really picky. So that's coming along slowly.

We play shows occasionally when we can get the van to start.

Proper recordings take time and money. We're working on both.

In the meantime, the occasional clip surfaces on Doomagram or RacistBook. That'll have to do for now.
